How to configure VDSL2 modem to connect to Live TIM in Brazil

If you want to buy a modem to use with Live TIM in Brazil you need to make sure you’re buying a VDSL2 modem.

If you buy an ADSL2 or an ADSL2+ modem, it will not work.

You need the following information to make a connection in your modem

ATM Configuration

VPI(0-255):0
VCI(32-65535):41

PPPoE

PPP Username: guest
PPP Password: guest

It shouldn’t be a problem anymore

If you still have problems, check the process of the svc-webconsole script and then kill it. First try to kill with kill and if it not works, use kill -9

Solaris Auditing facility on a Solaris 9 Brandz

Showing this message on /var/adm/messages file

Jan 22 11:45:01 solaris9brandz C0047233: [ID 702911 daemon.alert] audit failed to start because it cannot read or write the system’s audit state. This may be due to a configuration error. Must reboot to start auditing!

Apparently no problems in the file /etc/system

Enable NTP statistics

Edit file /etc/ntp.conf

Restart ntp service. If it shows the following message, the directory /var/log/ntpstats has wrong permissions

May 21 14:56:40 linux ntpd[11202]: can’t open /var/log/ntpstats/peerstats.20150521: Permission denied

ntpd is running under user ntp

root@linux:~ # ps -ef | grep ntp

Change the permission as needed

I was receiving the message Error code: ssl_error_bad_mac_alert while connecting to a HP Proliant BL680 G7 with iLO 3 version 1.16

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to 172.22.250.149. SSL peer reports incorrect Message Authentication Code. (Error code: ssl_error_bad_mac_alert)

To solve this problem, update iLO 3 first to version 1.20 and then to version 1.80

Tried to update iLO2 but when I ran the scexe file it gave me an error message

How to remove files with strange characters

To remove files that contain symbols and unknown characters, list the files with ls -li and take note of the inode number

root@linux:~ # ls -li
total 4420
2495260 -rw——- 1 root root 13810 Jan 28 2011 ????!
2495249 -rw——- 1 root root 13810 Jan 28 2011 ????!

Run the find command and see if it shows the desired file

root@linux:~ # find . -inum 2495260
./????!

And then complete the find command to search, find and remove the file.

root@linux:~ # find . -inum 2495260 -exec rm -i {} \;
rm: remove regular file `./20\36406\b!’? y

Remove the graphical screen with progress bar in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Suse

Edit file /boot/grub/grub.conf or /boot/grub/menu.lst and on the line that contains the word kernel, remove the word splash or rhgb (Red Hat Graphical Boot) from this line.

You will boot in text mode until it is time to transition to graphical mode otherwise you will remain on text mode.

Use this to check all console messages when booting. Useful if you need to connect remotely and pressing Esc or F2 fails

If you need to check, boot the kernel using the option splash=off or remove rhgb. You also can use consoleblank=0 to not turn off the screen.

AIX lspath Missing path

Reviewing disk paths, I found some paths showing as Missing and some enabled on the same fscsi

root@aix:/ # lspath -l hdisk31

To correct this situation we will remove the path and recognize again. Check if there is a disk with only one path

root@aix:/ # lspath

Remove one path, run cfgmgr. Remove the other one and run cfgmgr

root@aix:/ # rmpath -p fscsi2 -d
root@aix:/ # cfgmgr
root@aix:/ # rmpath -p fscsi0 -d
root@aix:/ # cfgmgr

It should display like this

root@aix:/ # lspath -l hdisk31
Enabled hdisk31 fscsi0
